What happens when I go to get a C Card?
At a doctors surgery, you will probably need an appointment with the practice nurse to become registered on to the scheme.
On the first visit, and every time you need a new card, you will be seen by a trained member of staff, (very often a nurse) who will explain the scheme to you, as well as making sure you know how to use a condom effectively.
A few details will be required but no one will be told about your visit unless there is a serious concern that you may be at risk of harm or, of harm to others.
You will be given the C Card and your 1st supply of condoms.
The C Card will have a number on it that is personal to you, so please keep your C Card safe and produce it every time you go for more condoms.
You may not be able to get condoms unless you have your card or see a nurse again.
Where can I get more condoms?
You can get condoms using your c card from lots of places.
How do I get more condoms?
Show your card to the receptionist. You do not have to say anything unless you choose to do so. The date of your visit will be written on your card before it is handed back to you.
What happens when my C Card is completed?
When you have collected 6 packs of condoms, your C Card will be full. It is then time to return to see someone. They will chat about how you found the scheme and will give you time to ask questions.
It is advisable to return to the place where you were first issued with your C Card, but this is not essential.
Unless you get a new card, you cannot be given any more condoms.
Which condoms can I get?
Under the C Card Scheme you can get:
Plain condoms
Flavoured condoms
Stronger condoms
Lube
You will need to choose the type of condom you want at first issue, this will be marked on to your C Card. You can change your mind when you return for another card.
