Access to Emergency Contraception / Morning After Pill in Peterborough
When would I use emergency Contraception?
- If you had sex without using a condom or if the condom is torn or comes off.
- If you have forgotten to take some of your contraceptive pills.
- If your contraceptive injection is overdue
It is very easy to get emergency contraception, which is the type of pill you can take up to 72 hours (about 3 days) after having sex. In some cases a coil / intrauterine device can be fitted up to 5 days after having sex or even longer in some cases. The earlier you get emergency contraception, the more likely it is to prevent pregnancy.
Emergency Contraception is available free from the following NHS outlets.
At City Clinic we can give you emergency contraception when our clinic is open.
If we are closed you can get it from the NHS Walk- in – Centre at Rivergate Peterborough (Next door to Asda). They are open from 7am to 10pm daily. If you do not want to say why you are there please say “ it’s a confidential problem and I would like to see a female member of staff”.
If you are over 16 years of age, you can purchase emergency contraception from pharmacies: this costs approx. £20 per pack, and one pack is enough for one usage only.
Where can I get it?
